The Sports action BMX and FMX riders are set to show their jumping skills at the Love Malawi Festival over the weekend, says a professional BMX freestyle biker, Vic Murphy.
This kind of sport will happen for the very first time in Malawi where six riders from United States of America (USA) including John Andrus will use bicycles to do extreme sports together with two Motorcycle FMX riders from South Africa.

Murphy, well known for winning several contests and is said to have helped revolutionize the BMX into the sport featured today in the X-Games, is part of BMX team and they have built three big wooden bicycle jumps and have been assembled and tried them on Friday at the fields by Maula Prison where event will take place this Saturday and Sunday.
“There will be some high flying jumps” said Murphy, Extreme Sports Athlete who began practicing his skills at the very young age until he became professional action sport at the age of 18

Asked how high they would go, he replied; “For the bicycles, it depends on how big your jump is. But we will probably be going 10 to 15 feet in the air on the bicycles and we will be doing back and front flips. So, it will be different kinds of crazy stunts.”
“But the motorcycle guys go probably 35 feet in the air and they jump 65 feet across. So they go very high.” assured Murphy who has been appearing on several bicycle magazines over hundred different times
On Saturday and Sunday this weekend, the international Evangelist Andrew Palau will deliver the Gospel of Jesus Christ at the Love Malawi Festival with main music performance by Praise and Worship Leader, Don Moen who will share the stage with some local gospel artists.
A free event for the whole
family, Love Malawi Festival intends to foster unity to Malawi and bring hope
to Malawians through Gospel of Jesus Christ.
According to Murphy who is also
well known as Christian Speaker, the action sports professionals will also give
their testimonies for what God has done to their lives because every rider is
committed to use bicycles for ministry.
“We have done major sporting
events in United States doing demos and shows. So we have taken something that
used to bring ourselves glory and we have turned it around and we are now using
it to give Jesus Glory, so that is why our main focus is ministry.” He said
He said the group formed Actionfor Sports Outreach (ASO), a faith based non-profit committed to sharing the
message of Jesus Christ by utilising exciting extreme sports demonstrations by
using professional BMX bicycle demonstrations to attract an audience and lock
in their attention then share the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.
Murphy said through this ministry
they also have been in festivals around the world providing interactive extreme
sports demonstrations and biblical gospel presentations.
