‘As It Is Happening’ WhatsApp Group Reaches Out To Struggling Single Mother In Lumbadzi

A current affair WhatsApp Group ‘As It Is Happening’ has donated various items and a business start-up amounting K30 thousand to a 23 year old mother of four, following touching story of her daily life struggles after her husband vanished from home almost a year now. 


Story of a single mother, Eunice Joseph from Lumbadzi who is currently breastfeeding 9 year old triplets reached the group this week from a member who narrated in a post about hard life she is experiencing which require urgent help from well-wishers.

The group responded on Wednesday with donation of blankets, clothes, a three month cover for rentals amounting to K9 thousand and a business start-up worth K30 thousand.

The current affair group got informed that the husband whose whereabouts is not known, vanished from home when Eunice was in 5 months pregnancy of her beautiful triplet girls, now 9 months old.

According to the post, the husband left home for good after Eunice had informed him that nurses had told her that she is expecting to give birth to twins.

“The husband expressed surprise to this news. He told his wife that this could not happen and he only recognise one of the unborn child and not the other one.” Read the post

However, the post indicated that few days later the husband vanished from home and that Eunice later gave birth to triplet, quite contrary to what nurses had earlier predicted about number of children’s she was carrying.

The three girls are now nine months old and their mother is earn a living through very hard means including doing some domestic chores like washing clothes and carry water for brick making among others which does not bring enough money to buy food and support herself and four children.

“When this came to our forum, we thought of better way of assisting this woman.” Said Tionge Kalua who led the team of representatives from the group that included renown musician, Sally Nyundo, Madalo Kapasule and Chauncy Jere

Tionge said members started to make contributions after reading the story and after the visit to Eunice home, she said “She really lives in a very poor condition.” According to Tionge, the woman’s home in Lumbadzi which she is renting is an old dilapidated house and does not have things like beddings and that her kids sleeps on a mat made from bamboo reed phragmites. 

“And it is our plea that other well-wishers should come in to assist her.” She pleaded and 

Eunice Joseph, well known in her small town of Lumbadzi as Mayi a Yankho was very thankful for the assistance from ‘As It Is Happening’ group and has promised the group that she will work hard on the business which she will start soon because she desire to do business so that she can ably help raise her children.
