Uladi Give Reasons Why MPs Slept In Parliament

This is a very rare honest confession from a Malawian politician over a blander as one of the leaders for the opposition party gives more possible reasons why himself and fellow Parliamentarians had to take a nap in the Chamber.

Leader of People's Party (PP) and interim president for the party, Uladi Mussa has finally come out on possible reasons why himself and other members of Parliament including Leader of House, George Chaponda were caught on camera sleeping in the National Assembly during the first weeks of the budget meeting for 2016/17 National Budget.

In an interview, Mussa was open to comment on the matter and said “There might be number of factors may be the speeches being presented were boring, or may be the temperature in the House or one has eaten a lot."

Mussa who insisted that there might be number of factors why one can easily sleep in the chamber further blamed the malfunctioned air conditioners in Parliament build for being main contributor to the sleeping sickness which attacked the House saying members were tired due to hot weather conditions.

“You know at the very beginning this room had functional air conditioners and the temperatures were good possibly 16 degrees Celsius but now the room is really very hot about 30 degrees Celsius and some end up sleeping, so it happens.”

Leader of People’s Party, Uladi Mussa says the just ended Meeting of the National Assembly has been fruitful due to passing of the bills like copyright, anatomy act and penal code amendment which will protect persons with albinism from attacks and killings.

However, he expressed concern over the absenteeism in the house by legislators and condemned the practice “as leader of Peoples Party.”

He also expressed party’s disappointment over the reduction in the budget of Farm Input Subsidy Programe which means a lot of poor Malawians will not benefit from the cheap fertilisers and seeds.
