Budget Meeting Of National Assembly Extended To Next Week








Impeccable sources have disclosed that it is more likely that the National Assembly will continue meeting up until next week as the ongoing 3rd Meeting of 46th Session of Parliament for budget was expected to end this Friday after meeting for a period of eight weeks.

Sources at Parliament say a recent meeting resolved extension of the Meeting up to next week.


Leader of House, Dr. George Chaponda could not comment as his phone went unanswered when tried to reach him this morning. However, Mr. Leonard Mengezi Chief Public Relations Officer for Malawi National Assembly has since said he is not aware of the development and says has heard the rumor himself.

Meanwhile the Order Paper for today has since indicated that the House will Rise Sine Die today. 

National Assembly resumes sitting today at 09:30 after two day public holidays and Speaker of the National Assembly is expected to provide communication whether the House will Rise Sine Die today or next week.

I a recent interview, Leader of House Dr. George Chaponda did indicate that the House has huge backlog of business more particularly Bills appearing on the Order Paper and will today make sure that the House will use every second in order to cover number of business items.
