Calls for death penalty continues in the National Assembly with latest being Kasungu East legislator who has openly told the House that himself and the entire people of his constituency wants eye for an eye for those perpetrating albino attacks and killings in the country.
Honorable Madalitso Kazombo when contributing to the debate on the motion of State of the National Address delivered by President Peter Muthatika, said appropriate deterrent factor to the unending killings and attacks of persons with albinism would be death penalty.
"Anyone found guilty of killing and abducting persons with albinism must face death penalty” said Hon Kazombo while informing the House that this is the position of people from his constituency
“These perpetrators have intent to kill, therefore they must be killed as well” he emphasized
Kasungu East Legislator lamented that these attacks and killings are making persons with albinism live in hide and therefore fail to walk freely and contribute to the economy of Malawi as evil minded persons are hunting them like as if they are wild animals.
He dispelled misbelief that body parts of persons with albinism can bring any fortune or wealth when used in which craft and further said it not true that there is market for albino body parts.
Meanwhile, one of the lawmakers, Bon Kalindo, is expected to stage naked protests this Thursday in Lilongwe to demand death penalty to those perpetrating horrible violence of killing persons with albinism and also demand protection and promote rights of person's with albinism in the country.
Malawi is facing unbecoming practice where some people are attacking, abducting and killing persons with albinism for their body parts and some are exhuming their remains. This is due to misbelief that body parts of albinos bring fortune and wealth when used in witchcraft practices.
Still, in Parliament, the House has adopted the motion on the State of the National Address delivered by President Peter Mutharika when opening the ongoing Budget Meeting on Friday 20th May, 2016.
