Banda Now UDF Leader In Parliament; Replaces Muluzi

Honorable Lucius Banda replaces Atupele Muluzi as leader of United Democratic Front UDF in the National Assembly

Speaker of National Assembly Richard Msowoya made the announcement today as the house continues meeting in the fourth day of the second week of their meeting.

Msowoya said the "business committee was advised Honorable Lucius Banda member for Balaka North Constituency is now the leader of UDF replacing Hon Muluzi following his appointment as a cabinet minister"

The Speaker also mentioned that his office "received the communication from Democratic Progressive Party DPP to the effect that Honorable Aron Sangala member for Blantyre Malabada is now representative for Parliamentary Service Commission replacing honorable Dr. Peter Kumpalume."

Peter Mutharika Makes First Opening Of National Assembly Meeting Tomorrow













President Peter Mutharika to deliver State of National Address tomorrow

The speaker of National Assembly has announced that President Professor Aurther Peter Mutharika will on Tuesday open the meeting of the national Assembly at 10 O’clock in the morning.

Msowoya made announcement before adjourning the house till tomorrow Tuesday at 09:30

The speaker further advised the party representatives to make submissions to the chair on sitting arrangements. The sitting arrangement is expected to change when the session ends tomorrow.

Radio Veteran James Chipofya Laid To Rest In Rumphi

Almost every person young and old who new James Chipofya was in tears as his family members together with his old friends were for the last time paying their last respect to Malawi's veteran Broadcaster at his home village Chifarasi in the area of Chief Principal Mwadandambi of T/A Chikulamayembe in Ruviri, Rumphi district.

The retired Malawi Broadcasting Cooporation (MBC) radio personality James Chipofya has been laid to rest on Sunday afternoon of 15th June 2014, following his death on 13 June after battling with Prostate Cancer since 2012.

Speaking when expressing the condolence, MBC Northern Region Controller Timpunza Mwansambo who represented MBC director general, described late Chipofya as a great man whose great works has unearthed many talented journalists at the State broadcaster.

"13 June 2014, we at MBC will remember it as a historical sad moment because we lost two of our great staff members, James Chipofya our teacher and James Makuluni who is also being burried today in Ntchisi district where our Director General Dr. Benson Tembo is right now"

Cobbe Barracks Soldiers Not Happy With Bribes, Nepotism

Some military officers at Malawi's First Battalion Cobbe Barracks in Zomba have raised complaints over the increased cases of bribery among some officers serving in high rank positions.

The information sourced from some officers indicates that among the cases are the abuse of office, nepotism and bribery.

Sources who spoke on anonymity said the office of a Second from the Commanding Officer (2/IC) headed by Lieutenant Cornell (Lt Co ) Victor Kuyenda administration Unit of Zomba is at the helm of the matter.

Chinese Ambassador to Malawi condemns Japanese Prime Minister

As some Asian countries continue condemning Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for paying homage to 14 Class-A war criminals at Yasukuni shrine on 26 December 2013, the Chinese Embassy in Malawi has joined other sister Diplomatic Offices across the world in condemning the Japanese Prime Minister’s calculated visit to the place.

The People’s Republic of China Ambassador to Malawi His Excellence PAN Hejun said in an interview that Abe’s visit to the war shrine reflects unremorseful to the Millions of Chinese who suffered the atrocities that Japan Militants committed during WW II.

Sunbird Search for a Star Grand Prize Winner Adrian Kwelepeta has finally released his debut single barely weeks after winning the singing competition on 14th December 2013 at Capital Marque in Lilongwe.

The Chichewa solo track titled Moyo Wanga has been released on yesterday 30th December and it is a song which Adrian performed in the night of 14th December as his victory song.

According to Adrian the track will be ready on 30th December this year and it is titled New Year.
