No Hope For ATI This Friday

There is little hope that the much awaited Access to Information Bill will be debated this Meeting of the National Assembly as the 3rd Meeting of 46th Session for Budget ends this Friday afternoon.

Leader of House, George Chaponda also has since expressed doubt that the bill will be discussed on Friday saying there are so many important bills on the Order Paper.

“Looking at the Order Paper there are so many important bills.” He said, but later assured that “We will try to do our best that on Friday we cover as much as possible. I will try to negotiate with them even if we can use the health break time”

However, said the time has been short this week making it impossible to finish all the bills on the Order Paper.

“The issue is that this time we are having two public holidays on Wednesday and Thursday. But we will try to see if that can happen on Friday.”

Chaponda said there is unfinished business of Courts Amendment Bill which is expected to be passed on Friday and then the House will start Human Rights bill and later tackle land bills.

"Most of these bills take almost three hours to discuss so, this bill will need ample time." Added Chaponda
