Local, international theatre groups excited with TRC Fringe Fest

As enthusiasm continue to build for the Mwezi Arts inaugural Theatre Renaissance Cabaret (TRC) international festival, local and international theatre productions performing at the event are optimistic of the festival’s potential to propel emerging talents to international stage and collaborations.

TRC is an International Theatre Festival scheduled for July 25 to 27, 2025 taking stage at the iconic Madsoc Theatre in Area 2, Kumbali Castle at Area 44 and Jazz Lounge at Four Seasons.

Emmanuel Chilombo, the director of Nkhwazi Theatre Works whose production is featured on TRC Fringe Fest said the TRC international festival offers them opportunity to showcase local stories, dialects, and artistic styles to the forefront—sharing Malawi’s rich culture with a wider audience.

NASFEST International Cultural Festival offers hope to local artists

The NASFEST International Youth Cultural Festival 2025 expected to begin this Friday in Lilongwe has been described as a great platform for upcoming young creatives to connect with industry experts and learn new skills from international artists.

Malawi’s celebrated film actor, Tumpe Mtaya popularly known as Phwedo made the remarks on the sidelines of the arrival of the South Africa and Zambian groups a head of their performance at the festival slated for Friday, February 7 to Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Madsoc Theatre in Lilongwe.

South African group jets in Malawi for NASFEST Youth Cultural Festival

A group of young artists from South Africa, Siyasindisa Theatre Work has arrived in the country ahead of their performance at the NASFEST International Youth Cultural Festival 2025 slated for Friday, February 7 to Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Madsoc Theatre in Lilongwe.

The festival, provides a vibrant platform for young performers to showcase their theatrical and artistic talents, encourage creative expression and cultural exchange, bringing together youths and students from different communities and secondary schools across Malawi and Southern Africa.
