A female passenger has died on the spot while her driver pronounced dead upon arrival at Kamuzu Central Hospital when the vehicle they were in got involved in a head on collision at Lumbadzi Trading Centre in Lilongwe.
Kamuzu International Airport Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Sapulain Chitonde, confirmed identity of the deceased driver as Tiyamike Chisemphere aged 34 who was driving Almeida Freightliner truck while the passenger is Angella Njiragoma believed to be a business lady from Mponera Trading Centre.

Sgt. Chitonde said the fatal road accident which occurred at around 14:00 hours on Thursday involved the Almeida truck and TATA Tipper truck whose driver is currently admitted at Kamuzu Central Hospital for sustained serious injuries.
He said police have established that the deceased driver whose truck was carrying ceiling boards from Chikangawa to Lilongwe lost control of the vehicle due to over speeding upon reaching Lumbadzi trading centre resulting in a head on into a TATA Tipper truck carrying Quarry stones from Terraston Company to Kasungu.
According to Chitonde, the deceased vehicle bear registration number ZA 1203 while the TATA truck has registration number RU 4876 of Paramount Holdings Construction Company in Kanengo Lilongwe.
Postmortem conducted by doctors at Kamuzu Central Hospital revealed that death was caused due to multiple internal fractures (Polytrauma which include Pelvic fractures, Pneumothorax /Rib and Chest fractures) and multiple head injuries.
The deceased driver, Tiyamike Chisemphere, born in 1982 is from Kanyangala village,Traditional Authority (T/A ) Dzowole in Dowa District).
Meanwhile, Lumbadzi Police Station Officer In Charge, Assistant Commissioner of the Police Mrs. Mwakikunga has appealed to the general public to notify any nearest Police Station one they recognise the late Angella Njiragoma's full particulars or come to Lumbadzi Police or Kamuzu Central Hospital for identification.
Mwakikunga further warned drivers to observe their speed limits to avoid such accidents and loss of lives.
