Chilima Urge Youth To Stay Focused, Stop Wasting Time With Trivia

Hon. Chilima speaking to St. Patrick Youths

Youths in the country told to stop being obsessed with trivia but instead remain focused pursuing their dreams.

The State Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima was speaking on Monday at St. Patrick catholic Parish at Area 18 in Lilongwe during a youth talk.
Chilima observed that incessant obsession with less important things seen on internet and television particularly about celebrities’ lives is one major problem facing youth today.
He said most youths are trying to copy and live celebrity life styles, a practice which is weakening their faith in God and further making them fail to achieve their dreams.

After the talk, Chilima posed with Parish Priest.
Fr. Kubalasa, Dr. Mathews Mtumbuka (his right)

“Obsession with trivia is making a lot of youth lose their faith and fail to realise their dreams.” He said “you copy things you don’t understand or know their background. You are easily taken up by anything even by those things that you don’t know their meaning.”
He mentioned celebrity life styles like fashion and level of enjoyment as some useless things that are constantly driving crazy young people today making them spend most of their time doing nothing. He went on to say in the course of pursuing such celebrity life styles they forget their goals and plummet themselves into troubles.
“So, our faith is challenged because we want to live what we are not. You want to be a whole star when you are not one, as a result you forget what you have been looking for and you stop chasing what you want to attain.” Said Chilima

Hon. Chilima then advised young people to stay focused and live their lives, values and principles as doing so they can achieve their dream.
“Live your life, live your values, live your principles” he guided, but placed emphasis on hard work and love to read the bible from which he said can help young people strengthen their faith in God and can find it a great source of answers to each and every situation in life.
“Live your life you will maintain your faith, it is when you are trying to live the next person’s life that you lost your faith.” He warned

“We need to pay attention to this as a country, that with trivia we are really wasting a lot of energy and efforts on useless things. We can’t develop a country based on trivia. So, go out there and join the choir singing against trivia.” He said
The vice president, Chilima further tipped the youth to stop living a life of worry and regrets about things they failed in the past, instead, he urged them to move on with their dream and accept their situation as such will bring peace of mind.
“Failure is not an option but also acceptance is a first step to healing. So don’t live a lie, live the truth” advised Chilima and further called on the youths to be advocates of positivity
