Villagers
at Steven Village T/A Karonga in Salima district were early hours of 16th
December shocked when they discovered in their drinking water Well, floating unidentified
man.
According
to Police Public Relations Officer for Salima district Sergeant Gift Chitowe
police suppose the dead man to be in 40’s.
The
corpse was discovered inside a drinking water Well when villagers noticed some spots of blood leading into it, indicated the officer. Sgt. Chitowe said when
the body was removed from the well, they found him had private parts hacked and
his stomach wide open through a cut.
Sergeant
Chitowe says “Police suspect that the motive of drowning and cut open stomach
of the victim one way of destroying evidence”, The officer has however said
medical experts confirm nothing was taken out from the deceased’s stomach.
Sergeant
Chitowe confirm that police in the district have intensified investigations to
trace the culprits “We are pleading with the well wishers to give information
that can lead to the arrest of those culprits.”
He
also said when no family members of the deceased are found Police in the
district will bury the dead man upon expiry of seven days which began on
Wednesday.
