Malawi's renowned evangelist, Pastor Shadreck Wame found dead at his home situated in Takumana area in Salima district, suspected to have been murdered by his servant currently on the run.
Salima Police public relations officer, Sub Inspector Gift Chitowe, confirmed that Evangelist Wame was murdered last night and police are hunting for the suspect whose identity is still not known.
Reports indicate that the evangelist sustained deep cut on the head and at the back.
Unconfirmed reports says the servant jumped the fence of Wame's house to escape from neighbors who came to apprehend him when spotted sneaking out from Wame's house with bags of maize. Information further indicates neighbors found Mr. Wame lying dead when they entered the house to check him after they failed to catch the servant.
It is further rumoured that his house servant connived with the thugs to steal from the house while the Man of God was sleeping and they hacked him to death when he woke up to see what was happening.
The Evangelist murder and attempted theft follows another theft that occurred towards the end of December last year when two men working as tenants at the evangelist farm were arrested and handed prison sentences for stealing his greener rifle.
