‘By Any Means Necessary’ Morgan Heritage Came Back And Delivered ‘Rockaz’ Moment

April 30, 2016 was biggest night of the year for reggae music fans and Malawi music industry as the 2016 Grammy Award winning group, Morgan Heritage sent the crowd wild at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe as they delivered a highly anticipated live performance.

They appeared on stage around 10 pm and finished around 1pm, thrilling fans with their  famous hits.

The 'Royal Family of Reggae performed for the first time in Malawi in December 2015 but had negative reactions from fans for using pre-recorded instrumental tracks, however, on Saturday they made a historical comeback putting one of the energetic sets of the night in front of largest crowd that filled the stadium. They truly proved that their December, 2015 show was indeed just "appetizer", and surely Malawi fans will live to remember 'Rockaz moment' which lead vocalist and keyboardist, Gramps Morgan had promised last week Thursday when speaking in an iinterview.

In the middle of their 3 hours performance, lead vocalist, Peetah Morgan said they love Malawi and "by all means necessary" they decided to comeback with the full band although their sister Una and brother Luke could not make it.

In attempt to clear air of December 2015 memory Peetah  told fans that this time around they were performing using real band instruments by saying "This isn't a CD" then even called the bass man and another female band member to prove there were no backtracks.

This biggest event of the year in the Malawi music industry's calendar 'Reggae Unites Festival' by Born Afrikan Productions was being hosted for the second time after the first 2015 event where 'Messenjah', Luciano was the main performing act.

Unlike December 2015 show where social media was full of negative comments, now Malawi social media is flooding with positive messages from excited fans expressing their delight;
Maloto Nyirenda posted on Born Afrikan facebook page "I was there too, Morgan Heritage was classic, a marvel to watch in areal show…" and another fan Bwanamkubwa Komwe Ko Malili said "Born Afrikan musch respect to you for making Malawi proud… I am not sure whether we will ever have a day like yesterday.. I believe what happened yesterday will open the gates of many more international acts…"

Others praised the band for performing longer than expected and that the show was worth more than what they paid for, "I expected nothing less than a perfect and massive show. Moran Heritage has given us a show to remember for ages. It was massive reggae music for more than 3 hours." posted Aubrey Mazibuko

The show kicked off in style with performance from a group of Malawi Rastafarians. But fans have unreservedly expressed their disappointment for poor sound quality during performance by home grown artists although they used same equipment which Morgan Heritage used.

However, one of the greatest performance of the night by local artists came when the show presenter Anne Matumbi thrilled fans with his freestyle rap where he talked about his current status. And from local artists, no performance caused as much a stir as his as fans.
