The Royal Family of reggae, Morgan Heritage is finally in the country for the much anticipated Reggae Unite Festival by Bon Afrikan Productions scheduled for Saturday, April 30th, 2016 at Civo Stadium in the capital city of Lilongwe.
The Grammy Award winning group is in the country with the whole band and Jamere Morgan, son to legendary International Reggae Artist Gramps Morgan. However, the only female band member Una Morgan and Lukes are not part of the tour.
Keyboardist and vocalist, Gramps Morgan said the performance for Saturday will be "Rokaz"
"It is more music, more music. Of course this time around it is live, the whole band is here" he added further promising that the show will be more worth than money "you will pay" for the show
Gramps also said their Cool To Be Conscious (CTBC) Music company will live to its word of promoting young talents in African continent.
"It is something that we said we are going to do, and we have done that." He said, "We have taken artist from Ghana his name is Stone Boy and we have him in this tour and he has toured with us in Africa. We have taken artist from Senegal who is touring with us and we have worked with Malawian artist, Bon Afrikan so we are working and there is a lot of more work to be done"
He then also advised local artists to perfect their art if they want to go far with music.
"It is very important to study your craft to the best you can be because Africa has produced the best" said Gramps who named Lucky Dube who happens to be one of his favourite artist, Fela Kuti and Angélique Kidjo as some of the best artists who should be the models for young African artist
This will be the second time the band is performing in Malawi following their first performance in December 2015.
Malawian but South Africa based Bon rikan who invited the band describes the Saturday show "Its another big game, like a football game where players always take things seriously; whether it is a friendly game, just a tournament or playing finals "
Bon Afrikan said he is not part of the performance but he has invited some artists based in South Africa including Big Trees, Janet Tafari and Malawian but South Africa based artist called Paramount.
More local artists have been lined up for the show including Nepman and Blasto.
